Seriously! where does the time go?!

I must preface this post with a warning.....there may be what some could consider to be some "graphic" pictures in this post. So, if a little blood makes you queasy, I'd stop reading soon. Having been warned, here we go.

Obviously it's been quite some time since my last post.....as usual. I'm sure you all know how time can just fly by too quickly. We've been super busy just living life.

Had a surprise 50th bday party for my mom. Lots of family and friends came from near and far! Thanks to all who came and made it special.

We had the "luau of the HALF CENTURY". All the kids did a little dance for her. It was pretty funny.

While Jen and Jim were in town for the party, we took a day and went boating at Yuba. Great times were had.

Just had to show you this little gem. Took over an hour to get out. Joy

Ava started "Pre K". Pretty much, it's just Preschool again, but she insisted she wasn't going to preschool again "because she already went there last year." So, we told her it was Pre K instead. ;)

Heidi somehow convinced me to run a half marathon with her. Here's me freezing my butt off at the starting line.

Somehow.....someway......we finished! I did it in 2hrs 50 minutes. Not that great of a time, but that's alright.... I didn't die. :)

ENTER GRAPHIC PICTURES......

So, Easton had this little red dot start to grow on his forehead. At first it just looked like a little mole. But, after a couple of weeks it was probably about the size of the tip of a sharpie marker and was raised. One Friday afternoon, he pulled himself up to the rocking chair in our living room and his "mole" barely brushed the arm of the chair and it started bleeding. No matter what I did, I couldn't get it to stop. After about 30 mins, I called the Dr., but of course being Friday afternoon, they couldn't get him in. He told me to take him to the instacare. About 15 minutes later it finally stopped bleeding, so I didn't take him in. Hindsight.....I probably should have anyway. Monday morning I made an appt with a dermatologist, but they couldn't get him in for about 3 weeks. Enter: Tuesday night, 3 am. Easton starts crying (which is typical). He almost always wakes up around this time wanting a bottle. So, I go in his room to get him. Keep in mind it's dark and I don't have my contacts in or glasses on. I pick him up and start feeling around his crib for his binkie. All the sudden my hand hits something soaking wet. I flip on the light. Look toward his crib and this is what I see.....

Unnerving? YES! I look at him to see that he is COVERED in blood! I had checked on him at midnight, when I went to bed, and he was fine.
I go into our bedroom and flip on the light and inform Rhett (quite sternly) to get up cuz we're going to the ER. He wakes up.....rather disoriented......and sees Easton. He Darts out of bed and gets dressed with the speed of light. While he's getting dressed, I begin to wipe the blood away from his little eyes cuz he couldn't see anything. Here's a pic Rhett snapped after I had wiped him off a little. Once I figured out where the blood was coming from, I wasn't nearly as panicked. I knew it was a tiny little spot and he wasn't in danger of bleeding to death anytime soon.
He was FREAKING out, so I fed him his bottle. After he got done eating he just sat there calmly like nothing was going on. lol
We tried to get it to stop while he ate, but it was not even beginning to slow down. So, off we went to the ER.
(Rhett the creeper @ 3:30am)

Good thing about walking into an ER at 3am with an infant covered in blood is that you don't have to wait for a single second. We got right back. The Dr. and Nurses couldn't get it to stop either and eventually had to cauterize it. Easton was PISSED! It took two nurses to hold him down while they numbed it. After watching him for a while, we got to go home. Here's what it looked like the next day.

3 Weeks later, we were at the dermatologist office and found ourselves once again having to hold him down while they numbed his forehead. Evidently he had what's called a hemangioma. Basically, just a collection of blood vessels at the surface of the skin. They're not necessarily a problem, typically, but they wanted to burn it off since it was bleeding so much. I agreed.

Just over a month later and there's just a tiny pink dot on his forehead. Kinda looks like a chicken pox scar. So glad it was something simple to fix. Made for some scary moments though.

Our silly boy

Ava had been begging us for a while to get her hair cut. So, we finally agreed and got it done. I happen to think she looks so cute!

Thanks to my Dad for teaching him how to open the bottom of the oven. Best day ever. NOT ;)

Ava wearing Mom's heels. She's SOOOOO girly!

Amongst all this craziness, Rhett has fixed countless amounts of cars for people (and still has many more to do, including his own), we helped my parent's add on a HUGE covered patio and re-roof their house, and we are getting ready to put in a fence. Hopefully, it won't be as long until my next post. Easton turns 1 in just a few days, so hopefully I'll get pics of the events up soon.

Until next time!

Rain, Rain, go away!

Now, normally I'm not one to post whining, moaning posts. But, I guess I figure every now and then ya just gotta vent. Today is that day. So, be forewarned, if you don't want to hear a little drama....change the channel. If you want to know how my life has gone lately, stay tuned. That said.....

Evidenlty the saying is true....when it raind, it pours! And my preconceived notion that bad things only come in threes has now flown out the window. Here's how our last 2 1/2 weeks has gone.....This spans from June 3rd to today.....
 1) June 3rd, Ava hurts her leg jumping on the tramp.
2) June 4th, take Ava in for an xray on leg that she's now limping on.
3) June 5th, Ava is still limping. Easton face plants it on a totally random plastic cookie cutter that is on the floor (for who knows what reason) and cuts his cheek up.

4) June 6th, Ava wakes up saying her throat hurts. Take her back to dr. She has infected tonsils, conjunctivitis, and an ear infection. What the freak?!
5) June 7th, Rhett breaks out with a massive MAN COLD.....yes, the dreaded MAN COLD.
6) June 7th- June 13......the whole family gets to deal with said MAN COLD.
7) June 14th, Easton starts cutting front teeth. Yeah....we thought the MAN COLD was bad....
8) June 15th, Easton starts with a fever and is tugging on right ear. Back to the dr.  Nope, no ear infection, no strep. Did I mention he's MEAN when not feeling well.....
9) June 16th, Fever continues..... MEAN.....
10) June 17th Easton breaks out with Hand Foot Mouth Disease. yup....that's right.... Hand Foot Mouth Disease......No clue where he picked that one up.  RANDOM!

11)June 18th (today), Hand Foot Mouth Disease continues to plague Easton. However, he wasn't quite as mean today. That's always a plus.

I'm really, really hoping that there is no unfortunate day 12 to report to you all. Here's to hoping and praying that things start going back up. I guess it can't really go anywhere but up from here eh?

Hello all....

So.....Here we are again....another severeal months have gone by since my last post. Such is life I suppose. Time has just been flying by! Easton is now 6 months old already and Ava has turned 4. I can't believe she's 4 already! Everything has been going well for us. Rhett is still in school....actually the semester will be over on Wednesday (thank heaven). Ava and Easton had their check ups today. Easton was 24 inches tall and 14lb. Ava was 36 inches tall and 27lb. Both itty bitty. Of course, I guess you can't expect much else to come from two shorties. Ava loves to spend her days outside (when it's good weather) playing on her playground and trampoline. She's made a few little friends in the neighborhood and our house seems to be the gathering center for all the kids. We LOVE it! I love that she gets to play with her friends and I get to keep an eye on her while she's playing. She goes to preschool. She loves it, but fights going cuz it starts at 8:30am. She's like her mommy and isn't really a morning person. Note to self for next year. Easton is rolling over like mad. He gets around by rolling from one spot to another. He hasn't cut any teeth yet, but I think he's working on it. He kind of sits up on his own....for a few seconds anyway. He's getting better at it. He is a very smiley baby and loves to laugh. He still has reflux and takes Prevacid for it. But, his isn't quite as bad as Ava's was. He started whistling last week. That's right...whistling. I'm trying to get a video of it and will post it if I am successful.  Here's some things that have been going on lately.

My Christmas present....NEW CARPET!!! I'm in love with our new carpet! Sure beats the old nasty beat up stuff that was here.
At 3 months old I finally had to break down and get Easton his first haircut. He really was born needing one, but I just couldn't bring myself to take him in until he was this old. Here's a before and after.

This picture was taken a little before his second haircut. I didn't get a pic of the second haircut, but it pretty much looked like the first in the end.

Here he is just before getting his 3rd haircut. That's right....3RD haircut. 6 months old....it's NUTS! He sure is a handsome little tyke.

This year Ava told me she wanted two birthday cakes....an Ariel cake and a Barbie cake. So, that's what she got.

We had her birthday party at Classic Fun Center. Here she is playing guitar hero. She had a blast playing the the bounce houses and riding her scooter around. She was super lucky to have so many good friends and family to be there with her.

Rhett's Grandpa passed away at the end of March, so we went to Altamont for the funeral. Here's a pic of Rhett and Ava at Rhett's grandpa's farm. Yes....she insisted on dressing herself.

Last week Ava's preschool had a fieldtrip to wheeler farm? Talia and Turner were nice enough to join us. They had a good time seeing all the animals and playing at the park. We packed a picnic and had lunch. It was such a nice day!

Oh my.....

My how time does fly! We've been rather busy since the last post, to say the least. With Rhett in school & working full time, Ava in preschool & swimming lessons, the birth of our new baby boy, cake making, Thanksgiving, finals (tests, tests & more tests) and now Christmas in just over two weeks.....I haven't really had a moment to spare. I'd love to say that all my Christmas shopping is done and wrapped, but that'd just be a blatant lie. It's nowhere close. I'm having a hard time finding the motivation to want to pack up my 3 year old and newborn to go hit the stores all by my little lonesome, as Rhett's been to busy to accompany me. Luckily, he's almost done so he'll get to watch the kiddies soon while I have some alone time ;) Here's pics of what's been going on.

My parent's took the whole family to Corn Bellys at Thanksgiving Point just before Halloween. We all had a great time and luckily we also had awesome weather! Can't ask for more than that.

Clearly she's weather confused.

Ava getting her VERY FIRST haircut. Note to self....great clips is not even suitable for a 3 year-old to get her ends trimmed. I had to take her back to get it fixed and they still couldn't get it right. Seriously?! What's so hard about trimming the fried ends of hair?!

Introducing EASTON DAX WALKER!!!!!

Born 10/24/11

6lbs3oz

18in

He was born very healthy with no problems for him.....or me :)

Home from the hospital! Ava is the best big sister ever. She absolutely LOVES Easton! I thought the novelty would wear off for her after a couple weeks at most, but she is just as in love with him today as the day he was born. She constantly dotes over him and gets mad if I let him cry for more than 2 seconds.

Chillin with Great Grandma Wilkinson

HALLOWEEN!! Exactly 1 week old today. The kids had a grea time trick-or-treating. They got to go to Grandma Kathleen's work and Daddy's work to get candy. Then Ava went out with Dad & Grandpa and scored a bunch more. Pretty sure she filled her bucket about 3 times.

1 MONTH OLD!!!

7lbs 10 oz

We went out to Rhett's parent's house for Thanksgiving this year. We were lucky enough to get a picture of Easton, Rhett, Alan (Rhett's Dad), & Rhett's Grandpa. Four generations doesn't always happen you know. Easton is, so far, the only one of their great grandsons that will carry on the Walker name. Pretty special.

Easton's blessing day

Thanks to all of those who came and made it special! Rhett did a great job!!

Easton does struggle with REFLUX.....gooooooooo......such an evil word. Thank heaven it's not nearly as bad as Ava's was! He's on Prevacid and we add a little rice to his milk and he is a totally different baby then he was 2 weeks ago. I wasn't able to even set him down for 5 minutes without him freaking out. Now, he'll lay there peacefully for quite a while. THANK HEAVEN!!!! Other than that, all is well and we love our little family!
