The Reaction...

As some of you know, early Saturday morning Ava had an allergic reaction to an unknown cause. She is totally fine now, but it was really scary! Friday night she had a couple of hives (but, nothing real serious) and a low-grade fever. I gave her some motrin, and didn't really think much of it. Just figured the hives were because of the fever. We let her sleep with us... so of course we finally all got to sleep around 1:30am. At about 5:30 we wake up to her just freaking out! We couldn't get her to calm down and she was just thrashing all over the place. We figured she was probably constipated and decided to do a suppository (this used to be a common occurance). We turned on the light (really dim) and did the suppository. A couple minutes later she was still freaking out, so I decided to go get her a sippy. I got back to the room and flipped on the light all the way. I went to the bed, picked her up, and turned her around (her back was facing me) to give her the sippy and I noticed her lips were HUGE!!! We couldn't see this before because the light was so dim. At the same moment I noticed that she was COVERED in hives as well! I yelled to Rhett that we needed to get to the hospital immediately! We jumped in Rhett's company truck and away we went. When we got to the hospital they gave her some epinephrine, Benadryl, and Prednisone. Her hives went down a little bit later, but her lips stayed pretty big for most of the day. Here are some pics we took while at the hospital. Sorry they may be blurry... they were taken with Rhett's cell phone. Luckily she is way better now, but they are having us keep her on the Benadryl and Prednisone for the next few days. We have NO IDEA what caused the reaction. Hopefully we can figure it out, so we don't have to go through that again! She gave us quite a scare!

On a more exciting note..... Ava went pee on the potty for the first time today!!!! Can't wait until she's all the way potty trained!

Red, Red, Red.... All I see is Red!

I guess if I wasn't a fan of the color red.... I'll have to be now! My house has suddenly been bombarded by it! Shirts, mail, walls, you name it. Ok, so the red wall was all me, but still! IT'S OFFICIAL! Rhett is registered for his classes up at the U. He has decided that he wants to go back to school to be a Civil Engineer. Classes start on August 24th, so please pray!!!! He is going to start the semester out by taking 10-13 credits (he can't decide if he wants to keep one of his classes or drop it) and he's still going to be working FULL TIME at his regular job! Quite the undertaking if you ask me. So, I guess if I was a BYU fan before, I'm not anymore. This is what was said to me about BYU...... "that is a 4 letter word, and won't be said in our house." Honestly, I don't really care either way. I don't really get into the whole thing, but whatever. Off we go for an oh so fun filled 4 (hopefully) years of school! But, I could't possibly be prouder of him! It was a big decision and I KNOW he'll be great at it. For some odd reason, he loves math. I HATE math. We'll see how much he loves it once he starts taking trig this semester! Once again.... PLEASE PRAY!!! We're both gunna need all the prayers we can get.

Ava update

It's been a while since I've let you in on little facts about what Ava does. So I decided it was due time.
1) She still has to sit in a rear facing car seat. Hasn't broken that 20lb mark yet!
2) She LOVES to be outside in the yard. Gma and Gpa Walker got her one of those little turtle sandboxes and she absolutely LOVES it! She will just sit and dig in it FOREVER.
3) She can point to her nose, eyes, mouth, arm, ding dong(bellybutton), and toes when asked.... that is, if SHE'S in the mood.

4)Her favorite word is NO! But here is a list of all the other words she can say...
bye
hi
mom, mommy, MAMA!, MOMMY!!, MOM!!!
(this is how it goes if I don't answer her immediately)
Dad, Daddy, Dada
Nose
Thank You
Uh Oh
Ouch
Dog
Please (although she chooses not to say it very often)
Blanky
Binky (although it sounds a lot like blanky)
YEEEE HAAWW!! (when she's riding her horse)
Nana (banana)
YEAH!!!!
She constantly jabbers, although I don't know what she's saying... she apparently knows exactly what she's saying cuz she NEVER stops talking!
5) This one is my favorite! If you tell her we need to change your bum go get a diaper, she will trot into her room, get a diaper, and come lay down on the living room floor so her bum can be changed! LOVE IT!!! Now I just need to teach her to throw it away!
6)She no longer has to be on reflux medicine! Thank heaven she outgrew that! What a nightmare!
7)She LOVES to pick strawberries out of our strawberry patch in the backyard.
8)Luckily she's not too picky of an eater. She will eat just about anything we give her. Although, she's not too fond of squash. I think it's a texture thing.
9)She loves to play at the park down the street. She will go down the slides all by herself. They're pretty big too!

10) She loves to read books! She is constantly dragging them out of her room for me to read them to her.

11)She is really outgoing she always has to say hi, thank you, and bye any time we are at a checkstand. And she always has to say hi to anyone we pass in the store.

12) She loves to dance. Anytime she hears music she will start shaking her head and bouncing up and down.

13) She loves to ride on the riding lawnmower. If she ever hears it start up and she's not on it... BEWARE!!!! She can throw a tantrum like nobody's business!!

WE LOVE OUR GIRL SOOOOO MUCH! She has brought so much joy into our lives. Her temper can be trying at times, but she's so stinking cute it's hard to let it bother you too much!

The County Fair

We decided to go to the County Fair on the spur of the moment last night. It's right by my parents house, so we didn't have to go very far. It was a great idea..... and a bad idea. We had a blast watching Ava enjoy the rides, but it was major windy! When we were leaving the wind was blowing so hard that the dirt (it's at an equestrian ground) was literally pelting us. I think my legs have sand imbeded in them. I still have sand everywhere! But, Ava loved it, so I guess it was worth it. Here's a few pics... sorry I forgot my camera (nice) so I had to take them with my phone, so they're not the best.

First Camping Trip...

So this weekend we decided that we would take Ava on her first camping trip. It was the last long weekend Rhett would have before his long journey of begining school again, so we decided to take advantage of it! We went with Rhett's brother's family. It was a good time for all. Ava did surprisingly well. Evidently she takes after her Dad, at least when it comes to being in the wild outdoors. Nights weren't exactly the best of times, but that was to be expected. She actually did better than I had anticipated.... for the most part. She had a pretty good time! Here are some pics of our adventures.

Huh??? Me?..... I wasn't getting into the candy.

She decided that she needed to help cook the dinner. Too bad she got the utinsils dirty in the process.
Swinging on the fun little swing daddy made.

CHEESE!!

So I originally took this video because she was just sitting there swinging her feet... it was really cute. But, of course because I got the camera out she stopped. I decided to put it on here anyway because you have to check out how fast she downs the chip! She has the biggest chipmunk cheeks!

Chilling just having a little snack. She LOVES pringles.
Riding on the 4wheeler with her cousins Madi & Ellie.

Best buds hanging out.
